Africa
and the 18th World Petroleum Congress Luncheon
The subject presentation co-hosted by the Canadian Association for the WPC, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers and the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association was given at the Westin Hotel Tuesday April 6. The presentation is co-sponsored by Eecol Electric, EnCana, Enbridge, Golder Associates, Nexen and Nickles. Speakers included: Dr. Eivald Roren, President of the WPC The
18th WPC is being co-hosted by South Africa, Algeria, Angola, Libya and Nigeria
and will be the first WPC held in Africa. The presentation will include preliminary
information on the overall Congress program, including the sessions program, and
the South African International Oil and Gas Exhibition being held in conjunction
with the Congress. A substantial part of the exhibition space has already been committed including by the co-host countries which are anxious to market the investment opportunities in their respective countries. However, there are still good choices of space available. Pre- and post-Congress tours are being offered in conjunction with the Congress including to the Nature Preserves and to the SASOL coal to liquid fuel plants. These are expected to be referred to in a video included as part of the presentation. Posted: March 30, 2004 Premier's Award
of Excellence for Participation in the 17th WPC The Canadian and Alberta governments, the Canadian Association for the WPC and industry participants undertook a joint program to further Canadian business development at the 17th World Petroleum Congress in Rio de Janeiro in September 2002. The program included Canadian participation in the congress sessions program, development of an interactive multimedia CD highlighting the advanced technology applied in Canada, as well as other programs. Opportunities were provided to discuss the technology on a scheduled basis with leading petroleum authorities at the booths and for selected international business and technical leaders to network with Canadians at social events. We are pleased to advise, as indicated in the attached letter from the Honourable Mark Norris, Alberta Minister of Economic Development, that the joint industry - government "Project Team" received a Premier's Award of Excellence for the program. Congratulations are extended to all those who contributed to the program.
