The 19th WPC will be held in Madrid, Spain, June 29th to July 3rd, 2008. Spain, like South Africa, does not have significant oil and gas reserves but has a large infrastructure for importing, processing, and marketing oil and gas and associated products. Its oil and gas industry has developed extensive activities worldwide with integrated companies playing a major role especially in Latin America and Africa. Spanish companies play an extensive role in international exploration and production being active in more than 20 countries.

Spain has ten refineries in Spanish territory with a total capacity of 66 million tons per year and has a significant presence in the refining sector in Latin America.

The 19th Congress promises to be among the most successful, being well situated in the Mediterranean region, near some of the most active producing and consuming areas of the world.
