As the result of strong sponsorship and volunteer support of the 16th WPC, large attendance and the successful Global Business Opportunities Centre, congress revenues permitted contributions towards educational programs at educational institutions as follows:

Scholarship endowment for energy related studies at participating Canadian universities and other educational centres - $4.2 million
Support for technician and tradesperson educational facilities - $0.25 million

The scholarship awards are focused towards students in energy related studies and comprise of $3,000 each. A total of almost 800 scholarships were awarded in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 to students in degree programs at forty seven participating universities across Canada. About 200 similar scholarships will be awarded each year over a total of eight to ten years.
