2nd Regional Meeting - Qatar There has
been interest among some national committees in sponsoring WPC regional meetings
which focus on exchanging world petroleum perspectives and highlighting petroleum
developments in their particular regions of the world. The particular National
Committee proposing the meeting has taken responsibility for the promotion of
the meeting and accommodating costs. The first such meeting was proposed
by China, approved by the WPC and held in Shanghai, September 17th-20th, 2001.
The Shanghai meeting drew 489 people from 38 countries, mainly in Asia, although
606 had registered. This was a substantial achievement as the meeting followed
shortly after the September 11th tragedy in New York. Back
